Enjoying Your Life

We all want to have a good time. We want to feel relaxed, do the things we enjoy and share our lives with the people that matter to us. Enjoying life is not always about the high moments, but also, the low moments. With everything going on in the world today, it can be easy to allow ourselves to lose the joy and love in life.

So I thought, today, I would share some tips on how you can enjoy life more. 

Tip #1:

Learn Mindfulness: life is so busy that we allow ourselves to be sucked into the rat race without pausing to think about what it is that we truly need. Being mindful means being self-aware and fully present in the things that are going on around you, without distraction. You can start practicing mindfulness by replacing distractions with the simple things of life:

– Take your time to relish your morning tea/coffee
– Take a walk to just enjoy nature
– Join a workout group or do some exercises yourself to feel good.

Tip #2:

Prioritize You: to truly enjoy life, you need to start putting yourself first. Oftentimes we are so busy being everything to everyone that there isn’t enough left for us. Learn to put your own needs first before that of others. Learn to say no when people make requests that make you uncomfortable and choose yourself unapologetically.

Tip #3:

Practice Gratitude: ever felt negative about one thing, only to find yourself descending into a dark pit of pessimism and sadness? That’s because negativity only births more negativity. Your life doesn’t have to be going perfectly for you to enjoy it. Start being grateful for the things that are going well, even if it’s the little things. No matter how bad things are, there’s always something to be grateful for. The more gratitude you feel, the more enjoyable your life becomes.

Tip #4:

Build Healthy Relationships: the people we let into our lives matter a great deal. It’s important to do life with the people you love, but it’s more important to surround yourself with the right kind of people. Have people who motivate, support and inspire you and allow you to be yourself around them. Do away with the ones who criticize you and put you down. Open your heart to more people. There are so many humans out there who are your “kind” of people. If you don’t open your heart, you may never meet them.

Tip #5:

Tone Down Social Media: as good as the internet and social media are, consuming them in large amounts is more harmful than useful. On social media, everything looks perfect, everyone is living their “best lives”. It becomes so easy to compare yourself with other people. This sometimes causes us to doubt the beauty of our own lives. And that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Remember that people only show the glitz and glam on social media. We don’t know what’s beneath all that. Your journey is yours alone. So move at your own pace.
